Advocacy

The Hertfordshire Advocacy Service is provided by a range of organisations working together to support Hertfordshire residents with a variety of issues, where there may be difficulties with communication or understanding information.

You can use this service if you are:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Live in Hertfordshire
  • Or are registered with a Hertfordshire GP

Our independent advocates can help you to:

  • Understand your rights and choices
  • Get your voice heard and put your views across
  • Find support when you feel vulnerable or when you could be at risk of abuse
  • Find and access services relating to our health, lifestyle or independence
  • Obtain information about your care, support or health in a format that is accessible to you.

Viewpoint operates alongside other community partners to provide advocacy support for adults experiencing mental health issues. Other partners specialise in:

  • the deaf community
  • older people (aged over 65)
  • adults with disabilities / learning disabilities

This service includes both group-based and individual advocacy.

You can refer yourself to the service or a referral can be made by a carer, family member or professional. The service is free and confidential.
