Peer Support Groups

With funding from Herts Community Foundation, we are excited to annouce we will be holding online peer support groups.

Our groups are run by two trained Peer Facilitators, who have lived experience of mental health and/or alcohol and drug challenges, either personally or in a caring role. Every group will be unique because they grow and develop according to the needs and aspirations of those who use them. The common themes are understanding, acceptance and hope.

All of the groups are closed – this means that it will be the same people every week who will attend. The group will run for 1 hour every week for 12 weeks.

Aims and objectives

Our peer support groups provide opportunities for people with mental health and/or drug and alcohol challenges to:

• Meet other people with shared lived experiences;

• Create a safe and supportive space to share feelings;

• Use shared experiences to give and receive support;

• Enhance wellbeing and develop residence;

• Help reduce loneliness and isolation and share coping strategies.
