An introduction to working Systemically with Couples and Families

MIND IN MID HERTS AS PART OF THE CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME, FOR VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF, IS RUNNING A 10 WEEK COURSE

Mind In Mid Herts

Mind In Mid Herts

The course will be an opportunity to learn about skills and techniques used in family / couple therapy but also relevant to working with individuals.

Develop skills in engaging people in conversations and dialogue that are enabling. In particular we will look at solution focussed brief therapy and appreciative models of therapy. We will use the experience of the group participants, to create a context, for mutual learning and collaboratively develop skills and techniques for on-going practice.

The course is designed for: parents, carers, students, teachers, managers, professionals and all those who would like to find out more about systemic thinking and practice, whether for career purposes or out of general interest.

What will you gain from the course?

• a new/different way of thinking - moving from a focus on individuals to an ability to think about families and networks of relationships
• translating new ways of thinking into action/practice
• Understanding the importance of patterns from previous generations and the influence on family dynamics
• an opportunity to think and talk about: social difference - gender, race, religion, class, culture, age, abilities and sexual orientation within a diverse and multicultural society
